A Normandy Diary

Your 15 minutes of fame

Now everyone can be immortalised by Warhol, after a fashion.

The picture to the right shows my artist friend Doug through the eyes of Warhol. Or it would have done if Warhol had still been around to render Doug's likeness in his immortal but - as it turns out - not inimitable, style.

Doug - as if by Warhol Warhol was fascinated with the mundane and the mass produced. His imagery owed much to photography and mechanical imaging. It's not surprising, then, that pleasing fascimile's of his work can be produced by computer, almost in an instant.

If you fancy a Warhol-esque image of your own, pop along to the Warholiser at the National Galleries of Scotland. Faster than you can say 'Warhol me' (well, nearly) you too can be a pop art idol.

If you'd prefer to look at work by a living artist - work with rather more depth, poetry and meaning - then check out Doug's site, Signapse.
